50 year old and feeling used up?

This email is to anyone who is over 50 years old and thinks it is normal to feel tired, down in the dumps and used up by life.

I have been thinking lately of getting older.  I know this may sound strange but I have been fascinated with watching people’s health for over 30 years and paid close attention with how the body and mind changes with decades of living.  I have observed people who age gracefully, age very fast, and a few who almost put a stop to the effects of years passing.  Do not fall into the mental trap that is being promoted that blames most bodily processes on genes which makes us all feel like victims because it tries to convince us that our destiny is predetermined.    What we eat, drink and think about far outweighs any effects that genetics has on our future health.

The following articles discuss 4 topics that can hopefully give you food for thought and offer information that can truly alter the course of the next decades of your life.

Read this short story from a 90 year from recent article in Times Free Press paper.  Society so often focuses on the sad stories of sickness and death that we forget their are still plenty of very vibrant and healthy people in their 70’s, 80’s and even 90’s who enjoy every day.

This was a letter written to Dr Gott  who is a physician featured in our local paper every day.  I hear stories such as this on a very regular basis in my business and I am always inspired to realize our bodies are such incredible machines.  If we can give the cells what they truly need, we could live years or decades longer but more importantly, improve the quality of our time that we have left on this earth.

DEAR DR. GOTT:  I am a fairly young man of 90 years.  I was born in Norway in 1919 and similar to most Norwegians ate a lot of fish.  A few of us might take cod-liver oil as a supplement, but in view of the general Norwegian diet, it might be less important.
When I arrived in this country at the age of 28, I started taking cod-liver oil regularly with breakfast.  When a nephew from Norway visited some time ago, I asked him what he thought of the value of cod-liver oil.  Arthritis was his specialty, and he thought it was useful against rheumatoid problems.  He said it works painlessly, almost like oiling a joint.
I have basically no signs of pain anyplace in my body, except I fell off a roof and broke my leg when I was 78. I still swim one lap over one-quarter mile once a week.  I don’t remember the last time I had a cold or was ill for any reason.  I never have to get up in the night.  The last time I went to see my physician, for a regular checkup, he had another doctor examine me.  Afterward when they reviewed my lab results, my doctor said that they were incredible and that he thought maybe he should eat the way I do.  Part of my health is no doubt due to my genes, but I believe it also due to the fact that I, especially during the last 20 to 25 years, have begun realizing that our bodies are made up of what we eat.  In order to stay healthy, we ought to consume a great variety of foods and include cod-liver oil.

(my comment)  The current state of research points to the fact that this 90 year old received most of his benefits from the omega 3 content found in the cod liver oil.  However today’s cod liver oils contain excessive levels of Vitamin A so I recommend using only Omega 3 supplements rather than Cod Liver Oil.

Local uterine cancer patient explains the supplement program that has helped her maintain her health through treatments.  Read how she did it.

Waneda Sikes and her husband have shopped at Nutrition World for some time and always believed and used nutritional supplements for years.  On March 17th of this year, Waneda was getting a check up at the doctor and found out she had uterine cancer.   The local oncologist starting treating her with aggressive doses of radiation and chemotherapy.  I have heard a thousand stories over the years of how the white blood counts so often plummet during treatments,  patients start having any number of health complaints and many times treatments must be stopped until the body regains its strength.   I have been following Waneda since she started her treatments and it is amazing how well she looks and feels and other than having no hair, you would never know she was having treatments.  Her color is excellent, her attitude is amazing and she attributes much of this to the supplements that she is taking.  Her oncologist advised her that he felt comfortable with her taking anything she felt she needed in the area of nutritional supplements.
The following is what she is taking each and every day.

Q-absorb CoQ10 100mg
Solaray Multi-vitamin Iron Free
Nordic Natural Omega 3 liquid
Natural Factors Magnesium 150mg
Vitamin D-3
IP-6

Nutrition World cannot give nutritional advice to anyone who is being treated for medical conditions and you must ask your doctor if you are being treated before using nutrients.

I stumbled across this video last week that makes me never want to complain about the trivial challenges in my daily life ever again.  I spend many hours monthly researching hundreds of websites for relevant health information and this has to be one of the finest inspirational youtube videos I have ever viewed.
